April 21 - May 16: MAP Testing, No Computer Classes
Digital Citizenship and Netsmartz
We will conduct class discussion and activities based on four Internet Safety topics: Cyberbullying, Netiquette, Privacy, and Safe Computers.
March 10-14
Students will learn the basics of Microsoft Excel by creating a spreadsheet and chart using M&M's candies. Then students will create an informal survey of our favorite pizza toppings and build a spreadsheet and charts to communicate the results.
February 17-March 7
Students will formally publish their Knight story written in Language Arts class by typing it in Microsoft Word. They will learn how to center titles, double space and use tab to indent paragraphs. They will also have a chance to illustrate their stories by adding clip art. Watch these videos to learn how to add illustrations to your story:
February 10-14
Students will work on typing skills by completing lessons in Type to Learn.
December 9-20
Christmas Sense Poetry - Students will create a PowerPoint presentation with audio describing Christmas using the five senses.
December 2-6
We will practice cut, copy, and paste, in Microsoft Word by putting this week's spelling words in alphabetical order. Students will learn three different ways to cut, copy, and paste and choose which one they like the best.

November 25-29
The students will: 1) finish drawing the Panda in Paint, 2) practice typing in Type to Learn, 3) enjoy online Thanksgiving activities.
November 18 - 22
The students will finish drawing Pandas using Microsoft Paint.
November 11-15
Continuing our lessons using Microsoft Paint, students will follow step-by-step instructions to draw a Panda. Students will be graded on his/her ability to follow directions and creating a panda closely resembling the example.

November 4-8
October 28 - November 1
The students will practice typing in our program Type to Learn. They will use a worksheet to keep track of their progress and grades will be assigned based on the number of lessons completed over a period of time. Grades will also be given based on their mastery of keyboarding technique (eyes on the monitor, fingers on home row, sit up straight, feet in front).
September 23 - October 25
The students will not be coming to computer lab during these weeks. Our school is taking an online assessment called MAPS. You should receive information about this from your child's homeroom teachers.
Week 3: September 16-18
- Practice typing using Type to Learn for 15 minutes
- Play the Keyboard Challenge to put all the keys back in place. Try doing this without looking at the keyboard!
Week 2: September 9-13
- Practice typing using Type to Learn
- Complete a fill-in-the-letter keyboard worksheet. This worksheet will be used later to study for a test to fill in the letters on the keyboard from memory.
Week 1: September 2-6
- Review computer lab procedures
- Login to the computer
- Begin typing practice using Type to Learn
